Instagram, Discord Benzeri Yeni ‘Topluluk Sohbeti’ Özelliği Üzerinde Çalışıyor
Instagram is currently testing an internal prototype of a “community chat” feature that closely resembles Discord’s group chat functionality. This feature allows users to organize groups of up to 250 people within the app. The unreleased feature was discovered by developer Alessandro Paluzzi, who is well-known for uncovering new functionalities in Meta’s apps.
Instagram Community Chat: A Discord-Like Feature
According to screenshots shared by Paluzzi, it appears that community chats will operate similarly to Discord. Users will be able to create chats centered around specific topics and control who can join, with a maximum limit of 250 participants per community.

Active Participation and Moderation Tools
Unlike Instagram’s broadcast channels, which allow creators to send messages to their followers, anyone in the community chat will be able to actively participate in the conversation. Additionally, there will be built-in moderation tools. As stated in the screenshot, “Admins can remove messages and members to ensure the channel remains safe. We also review Community Chat in accordance with our Community Standards.”

No Official Launch Date Yet
It’s unclear when or if the feature will be launched. An Instagram spokesperson clarified that it is an internal prototype, currently not being tested outside of the company. However, Meta has previously rolled out similar features in its other apps. WhatsApp began experimenting with a “Communities” feature in 2022, and introduced “Community Chats” on Facebook and Messenger later that same year. Mark Zuckerberg explained that these features were designed to help users “connect with people who share your interests in a new way.”
